The fifth generation (5G) cellular network, available to ordinary users, has started operating in Kazakhstan. The operator "Tele2 Kazakhstan" launched 5G user sites in Almaty. Tele2 General Director Sergey Konkov: “Our first locations in the country with a 5G user network are located in the city of Almaty. The operator provided coverage with this technology along Panfilov Street from GATOB to Karasai Batyr Street and Kaisar Plaza business center. The number of 5G zones and coverage will expand over time. Also, work is underway to increase the number of device models with support for 5G technology, in terms of obtaining manufacturer certificates. "
On September 2nd, the operator received permission to use frequencies in a test mode to launch a new generation technology. Realizing the importance of launching 5G, the operator tested the technology during the previous month. The figures are really impressive: the data transfer speed achieved 1.2 gigabits per second on the site in test runs, and the average speed in continuous use is expected to be at the level of the world average. By comparison, according to Speedtest, the average download speed on 5G mobile networks around the world in Q3 2020 was 207.39 Mbps. The result was 954% higher than in previous 4G mobile networks generation (29.66 Mbit/s). In the near future the operator plans to provide coverage with the technology of the fifth generation of the high-mountain sports complex "Medeo", work is already underway to plan and install the equipment. In the coming days, Tele2 will provide its subscribers with the opportunity to use unlimited Internet in 5G technology, there will be no restrictions either on the volume of consumed traffic or on the speed of access.
